What can be engraved on my padlock?

A one word answer - anything! However, we will not engrave any message which we consider to be offensive. You can create your own message in full or choose to add text to one of our specially-designed love lock templates. If you would like your own design to be engraved, such as a photo, graphic, logo, club badge or a family crest, please do not hesitate to contact us with your specific requirements.

Is there a limit to the amount of text?

In order to ensure that your message is clear and legible, our online ordering process limits the lines of text to five and the number of characters per line to 20. This limit applies to both front side engraving and reverse side engraving.

If you require more than five lines of text, more than 20 characters per line, prefer an alternative font, or would like to customise your love lock from scratch, then please do not hesitate to contact us. We will do everything possible to accommodate your requirements.

Do I have to use all five lines of text?

No, but we recommend that you create a finished look that is nicely balanced. For example, if you only want two lines of text, use lines 2 and 4. If you only want three lines of text, use lines 1, 3 and 5. Our team of designers will always ensure that your engraving is well balanced and centralised.

Can you engrave non-English alphabets?

Yes, we can engrave all alphabets and characters, including French, Spanish, German, Italian, Scandinavian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Chinese and Cyrillic (Russian).

What are love lock templates?

We have created a number of specially-designed love padlock templates, intended for a variety of events, occasions, places and messages. You can personalise any of these templates by adding your own lines of text where indicated. Please see the templates page for full details.

Why are the gold and silver locks more expensive?

Engraving your special message is a complicated process. By default, our YAG laser engraver will engrave your message in white - against the red, purple, blue, green, black and pink locks, this gives a great contrast.

The gold and silver locks are very beautiful, but the default white engraving can appear quite faint and illegible against these colours. In order for your message to be clear, we need to use a darker engraving process. This process is far more intense, time-consuming and costly - these factors are reflected in the additional price.

Can my message be engraved on both sides of the lock?

Can my message be engraved on both sides of the lock?

Yes. Once you've designed the main, front side of your lock and added this to your basket, you'll see this image. Clicking this link gives you the option of adding further text to the reverse side of your lock.

How can I make payment?

Our payment processing is through PayPal. PayPal is a safer, faster, more secure way to pay online - your financial details are never shared with us. If you don't already have a PayPal account, it's free and very simple to open one.

If you prefer not to open a new account, that's fine - you can make a one-off payment using any major credit or debit card. When you reach the PayPal payment page, simply scroll down and click the 'pay by credit or debit card option'.

What are the postage options?

We post worldwide, using either standard delivery or recorded delivery options. For UK orders, we offer the Royal Mail Recorded Delivery option - your package will require a signature upon receipt. For non-UK orders, we offer the Royal Mail International Signed For option - your package will require a signature upon receipt. Standard charge postage options will not require a signature upon receipt. Full postage options and costs are detailed at the end of the ordering process.

How soon will my order be dispatched?

Once we receive your order, your personalised message is designed before being passed to our engraving department. We aim to dispatch all orders within five working days. Please contact us if you have urgent requirements.

Do you accept returns?

In accordance with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations (2000), customised (engraved) products are exempt from the 14-day 'cooling off' period. Because your product is personalised, we are unable to accept returns.

Before submitting your order, we ask you to please check (and double-check!) your required engraving, including all spelling and spacing. If we notice an obvious error, we will contact you prior to engraving. Otherwise we will engrave exactly what you have asked us to engrave. In the event that we make an error with your order, we will, of course, send you a replacement free of charge.
